Is it a house? Is it an art gallery? Is it both at once?
The allure of a house-gallery lies in its versatility and duality. These are spaces where the essence of the home converges with artistic expression, a concept that has inspired AD magazine to once again participate in ARCO in collaboration with Massimo Dutti.
AD’s space at ARCO 2024, crafted by Burr Studio in partnership with Massimo Dutti, redefines the boundaries between art and the notion of the home. Known for their unconventional approach to architecture, Burr Studio turns spaces into unique, immersive venues. The result is a new gallery concept where visitors can discover a curated series of works unified by texture: natural and industrial elements intertwine to create a futuristic composition.

LIVING WITH ART
AD’s booth at the fair served as a place where the work of Nora Aurrekoetxea and Christian Lagata converge; two contemporary artists who use seemingly contrasting materials which, in our particular context, strike a seamless balance. Nora Aurrekoetxea, a native of Bilbao, approaches her work with a skilled hand akin to that of seasoned tailors. She deftly manipulates, arranges, and interweaves various shapes, striking a delicate balance of tension that, in the pieces selected by AD, embodies the concept of love. Lagata, on the other hand, uses a combination of natural materials (think minerals, dried vegetables) along with industrial elements to craft intricate compositions that reflect contemporary themes.
