Arco ‘26. The Project
The collaboration between Massimo Dutti and AD magazine for the ARCO 2026 stand takes shape in Lumbre, a project that understands design as both narrative and a gesture of responsibility.
Under the title Lumbre. Concept and Trajectory, the space, developed together with Manuel Bouzas and the collaborative architecture studio salazarsequeromedina, proposes an experience that goes beyond exhibition to become a sensitive reflection on matter, time, and transformation.
The Lumbre project begins with reclaimed wood from forests in Galicia and the northwestern Iberian Peninsula affected by wildfires, transforming it into structure, atmosphere, and discourse.
The project articulates a metaphor of rebirth: what was once ash is transformed into ephemeral architecture, and the ephemeral into a lasting message. The stand does not seek to impose itself, but rather to invite a pause — to explore textures, shadows, and volumes that speak of loss, but also of possibility. It also integrates the exhibition of a curated selection of works that find their essential connection in fire. The alliance between a fashion brand, a leading design publication, and a creative team with an architectural perspective demonstrates how disciplines can converge toward a shared purpose. In this way, Lumbre builds a bridge between devastation and hope, turning ARCO 2026 into a setting for thinking about the future through ecological awareness and material emotion.
