Interview
Johannes Huebl exclusively for Paper
Johannes Huebl is one of those men who, without wanting to be, has become an icon of style. As he himself explains, he was discovered by the GQ magazine after going in for the British GQ and Boss Models competition. Although he did not win, he did manage to sign a contract with an important modelling agency, which marked the beginning of a brilliant career as an international model. Since then, any garment he puts on does not go unnoticed, no matter how relaxed it might be. He comes over as discreet and cautious in his facet as a photographer,
and the fact is he still feels a certain embarrassment when displaying his work, despite having learned from his experience as a model posing before the lenses of the greats like Avedon and Lindbergh. Although many consider him a fashion reference to follow, this is not how he sees himself, although he is not at all reticent in sharing the tricks that have given him this status, while he continues to cultivate his real interests which have more to do with culture and photography.
