Luca Vanello
Massimo Dutti’s ArtInProgress project was created with the mission to promote the creativity of local artists from around the world. One of the latest collaborations has been with artist Luca Vanello in the Florence shop, coinciding with the Salon Pitti Uomo.
Luca Vanello is an Italian-Slovenian artist. In his installations, he creates speculative environments that explore the relationships between technology and the cycles of nature, investigating how natural and man-made matter intimately form conditions of vulnerability, vitality and coexistence”.

After years of research, Vanello’s practice explores the interweaving of non-human entities in the processes of distribution of the visible. Plants, inanimate objects, images, affects and energies are seen as part of the same organic whole, creating an isomorphism between social forces and material ecologies. By approaching physical manipulation as a conceptual tool, intimate narratives and material cycles are intertwined. Through processes such as evaporation, digital alteration of images, compression, fragmentation and absorption, alteration as a form of abstraction becomes a way of thinking through collective and individual narratives.
