Shanghai
This is the building that represented the host country at the Expo 2010. It was reopened in 2012 as the China Art Museum, the largest art museum in Asia, designed to serve as a showcase of the country’s culture and traditions to the rest of the world. The building is inspired by the shape of the ancient Chinese imperial crowns and the entire exterior structure is red, the colour of good luck, progress and beauty in Chinese culture. The pavilion is supported by 56 beams which symbolise the number of ethnic groups in China.
