Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art is a must-see for visitors to Copenhagen interested in art and architecture. Founded in 1898, it was the first artists’ association in Denmark and since then its aim has been to exhibit Danish and international artists who deal with contemporary themes. What’s more, Den Frie is in one of Copenhagen’s most interesting buildings, designed by the founding father of Danish Art Nouveau: J.F. Willumsen.
