Dubai Creek is a natural estuary of around 10 km separating Deira and Bur Dubai, the two historic districts of the city. At the beginning of the 20th century, Dubai Creek was the region’s most important port, with hundreds of boats trading their wares with India and Africa. These dhows (traditional Arab boats) are closely linked with the history of the city. To cross from one side to the other there are two bridges, a tunnel and small boats that organise scenic crossings, with meals on board. One of the best areas of the city to explore on foot. The liveliest spots to visit are Deira Creek and Heritage Village.
