Fundació Joan Miró
Barcelona
A space dedicated to promoting the work of Joan Miró, one of the greatest icons of surrealist painting and sculpture. It was created by the artist himself and, with time, it has become an international reference point for studying contemporary art. With an interdisciplinary approach, Fundació Joan Miró combines its permanent exhibition with temporary exhibitions by other contemporary artists, academic activities and collaborative projects with other Spanish institutions. The building that houses the foundation was built by architect Josep Lluís Sert, one of the driving forces behind avant-garde architecture in Catalonia.
