A must-see neighbourhood where you’ll discover London’s most colourful side. Notting Hill is best known for its market selling antiques and vintage clothes on Portobello Road, one of the main streets in the neighbourhood. But, what really stands out in this area to the west of the city are the brightly painted houses. On some streets there are only a few of them, mixed with other more traditional looking houses. On others, like Lancaster Road, the brightly painted façades account for most of the houses on the street. What’s more, during August Notting Hill holds Europe’s largest street festival: the Notting Hill Carnival.
