Alzueta Gallery
Maru Quiñonero and Antonia Ferrer, two of the artists exhibiting these days at the shop on Paseo de Gracia, arrive by the hand of Galería Alzueta, one of the most prestigious galleries based in Barcelona and Madrid. Committed to modernity and transformation, the gallery also presents its projects at the Palau de Casavells, a space in the heart of l’Empordà, in an unusual setting for its contemporary proposals.

Maru Quiñonero
Maru Quiñonero’s creative journey reflects her easy-going and stoic nature. A self-taught artist, Maru finds inspiration in her lack of formal training, which she sees as a source of creative freedom. Her work, which focuses on color as the primary element, explores its emotional resonance and how it is used both in pop culture and in art history. Maru’s practice has evolved from figurative illustration to abstraction, with color becoming her central focus since 2017. Her process is intuitive and experimental, emphasizing spontaneity and making the most of creative accidents.
The artist has several upcoming solo exhibitions, including shows at Alzueta Gallery in Madrid (2025) and Voltz Clarke Gallery in New York (2024). Recent solo exhibitions include “De Mica en Mica” at Alzueta Gallery, Spain (2024) and “Reir y Bailar” at Kitsuné Gallery, USA (2023).

Antonia Ferrer
Antonia Ferrer’s philosophy centers on simplicity, stripping her work down to its most essential elements. Her paintings blur the line between sculpture and painting, using primitive materials and gestural techniques to create textured surfaces that explore the interplay between light, shadow, and color.
Her approach is deeply minimalist, first building a textured base before applying a bath of color to see how it reacts with the existing surface. This process, reminiscent of nature’s ebb and flow, reflects her deep connection to the sea, which inspires her work.
