IN STORES
In the heart of Paseo de Gracia, renowned for its unique atmosphere of fashion and luxury, and in a building of incalculable historical value, stands one of Massimo Dutti’s most iconic flagship stores. The building in which it is located is, on the one hand, a tribute to Catalan Modernism that has been restored to its former splendour thanks to renovation and heritage recovery works and, at the same time, an epitome of avant-garde linked to the essence and natural progression that the brand has been experiencing over the last decade.
BARCELONA
At the back of the store is a beautiful inner courtyard, restored to its former splendour. The prestigious British landscape designers Harry and David Rich were responsible for a haute couture project that was completely in sync with the historical characteristics of the building itself. It is a natural space that responds to a project respecting the identity of an old Modernist courtyard.

For the conceptualisation and creation of the landscape project implemented in the store’s inner courtyard, all of the decisive factors were taken into account to recuperate the its old spirit of beauty and splendour. These considerations include everything from strictly environmental factors and the type of plant containers used to the selection and combination of the ideal botanical species for them to flourish.

Courtyard Lisboa
IN STORES
Massimo Dutti’s flagship store in Lisbon occupies the interior of an old neoclassical stately home that has been completely refurbished for its opening, as well as the exterior. The landscaping project was carried out by Jesús Moraime, a renowned Spanish landscape designer, whose aim was to bring the botanical world closer to the citizens of Lisbon and to express different functional and evocative ideas in his intervention.
LISBOA
The concentric and radial layout of the garden planting on the existing flowerbeds, protected as an integral part of the palace complex, refers to the Portuguese colonial expansion around the world. A chromatic rainbow, distorted in its earthly dimension far removed from celestial idealisation, forms the heart of the intervention.

For the edges of the ramp leading from the street to the large glass cube and the interior of the shop, tropical plant species were chosen, the same as for the rest of the shop. Nature in the urban environment and exotic evocation and the textures of the fabrics are the conceptual basis of the landscape intervention by Jesús Moraime’s studio for Massimo Dutti in Lisbon.
