2025 SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

2020

THE DAY-TO-DAY MANAGEMENT OF OUR STORES IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. OUR ECO-EFFICIENT STORES SAVE UP TO 20 % ENERGY AND 40% WATER.

25% DE COLECCIÓN JOINLIFE
+

Etiquetamos bajo el nombre Join Life las prendas que se producen utilizando los mejores procesos y las materias primas más sostenibles, como algodón ecológico, Tencel TM o poliéster reciclado.

CANOPYSTYLE COMMITMENT TO PROTECT THE FORESTS
+

We collaborate with the NGO Canopy Planet and with other companies in the textile sector to ensure that ancient and protected forests are respected during the production of wood-derived fibres such as rayon and viscose. By 2020, our products will not contain fibres from ancient or endangered forests.

ZERO DISCHARGE OF UNDESIRABLE SUBSTANCES (ZDHC COMMITMENT)
+

We are committed to reaching the goal of Zero Discharge of Undesirable Substances (the ZDHC commitment) in the manufacturing of our products in 2020.

To ensure that our products are safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable, we have created new health standards, made progress in production-improvement programmes and increased the number of controlled substances included in The List, by Inditex, a pioneering programme in the textile and leather industry that was launched by Inditex in 2013 to classify and improve chemical products used in the manufacturing process.

We have also increased the number of environmental assessments for our suppliers with the Green to Wear standard, as well as the number of manufacturers that follow the best practices listed in the Ready to ManufactureCode. They have enabled us to foster good manufacturing practices and encourage that resources are used efficiently and that waste is managed correctly.

100 % IN-STORE CLOTHING COLLECTION SCHEME
+

THERE ARE COLLECTION POINTS FOR THE CLOTHING COLLECTION SCHEME IN ALL OUR STORES ACROSS THE WORLD. THIS WILL ALLOW US TO CONTINUE FURTHERING THE PROGRAMME, BY SELECTING CLOTHING TO BE REUSED OR RECYCLED FOR SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PURPOSES, IN COLLABORATION WITH NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS.

100% CIRCULAR DESIGN TRAINING, GLOBAL FASHION AGENDA
+

Our goal is to promote the reuse and recycling of garments when they reach the end of their life cycle. We are providing circular design training to our design teams so that in the future, our clothing can be easily recycled and transformed into new garments, in accordance with our commitment to the Global Fashion Agenda.

2023

100% SUSTAINABLE CELLULOSE FIBRES
+

All of our cellulose fibres will be sustainably produced in accordance with our commitment to the Changing Markets Foundation, which promotes the Roadmap towards responsible viscose & modal fibre manufacturing.

100% GREEN TO PACK
+

We are working on the Green to Pack project, a global Inditex programme aimed at redesigning our packaging to make it more sustainable. To this end, we will reduce the quantity of raw materials that we use and unify materials to facilitate recycling and reuse.

100% ZERO WASTE
+

All waste generated by our central offices, logistics platforms and stores will be reused and recycled.

ELIMINATING SINGLE-USE PLASTICS FOR CUSTOMERS
+

With regard to packaging in our stores and online, we are working to eliminate all single-use plastics from our business activity.

Massimo Dutti has already completely eliminated its use of plastic bags worldwide, and all Inditex chains shall reach this goal in 2020. Consequently, bags will be made of 100% recycled paper and the online order boxes will be made of recycled cardboard, made in part from the cardboard we use for distribution.

2025

100% SUSTAINABLE COTTON
+

All of our cotton will be sustainably sourced, meaning that it will be certified by the Organic Cotton Accelerator’s (O.C.A), and will be ecological, ecologically grown or recycled cotton.

100% SUSTAINABLE LINEN
+

All of our linen will be sustainably sourced, meaning it will be ecological, ecologically grown, European or recycled linen.

100% SUSTAINABLE POLYESTER
+

All our polyester will be recycled.

80% CONSUMPTION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
+

We are working to ensure that the energy we consume in our facilities (head offices, logistics centres and stores) comes from renewable sources.

THE ELLEN MACARTHUR FOUNDATION’S NEW PLASTICS ECONOMY GLOBAL COMMITMENT
+

We have signed up to the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment 2025, an initiative led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme. The aim of this commitment is to ensure that all the plastics we use in our business activity are reused or recycled. These plastics can then be reintroduced into the circular economy, thus reducing the amount of unnecessary packaging.

We are committed to continue working on each stage of the life cycle of our garments to guarantee sustainable development.
