What message do you want to convey
and develop in?

I never really had a defined message per say.
I think I was trying reveal points of interest in everyday things, or everyday moments. I was fascinated by negative space, the space in between things was more important than the subjects themselves.

When did you start in the fashion industry and how?

I started in the late 90’s, I happened a bit by accident, I met Michel Mallard who was the art director in charge of the Hyères Festival. He helped me submit work and through that met a lot of people in the fashion industry

What is your most distinctive feature?

In terms of photography, when I started, I was very into repetition.
I would almost always shoot from above with a long lens, almost as if I was trying to narrow things down, so that I could grow from within the constraints.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everything can be a source of inspiration, and it has varied so much. Early on I was very inspired by everyday things, as I was doing more landscapes and still lives. As I started photographing people, it became about the subjects themselves, their energy how they were able to share and communicate.

How is the fashion industry changing?

I was never very interested in the fashion industry. At one point the fashion industry was growing along the media industry especially with magazines. It was a good mix, the fashion industry acted like a patron for the arts rather than a content publisher. Now that magazines are less important, social media is here and the fashion industry has grown to such commercial heights. The fashion industry has had to become content creators, a little bit like the film industry had become run by producers as opposed to directors.
