Kolonaki (Athens)
ArtInProgress , Issue 152
The ArtInProgress project by Massimo Dutti was created with the mission of promoting the creativity of contemporary artists from around the world. The latest collaboration features artists Maria Grigoriou and Yiannis Papadopoulos at the Kolonaki store in Athens—a space that reinforces the brand’s new interior concept, where natural light and materials like wood play a fundamental role.

Maria Grigoriou captures the beauty of the ephemeral through blue traces of rust and saltwater, reflecting her two-year journey by sea. Yiannis Papadopoulos, through meditative repetition, weaves his thoughts and explores the impermanent and transparent with simple linen string. Together they create sculptural landscapes.

Maria Grigoriou’s art is the result of a two-year journey through an ever-changing seascape, weaving the blue traces of time, rust, and saltwater as a reminder of the ephemeral and transient nature of the warp and weft of our lives. Yiannis Papadopoulos’s work re-evaluates and rejects the superfluous, using repetitive movements and linen threads to weave thoughts that fold and multiply with light and shadow. Both artists have shared a studio in Athens since 1978 and are represented by the Bernier Eliades Gallery in Athens and Brussels.
